New Apartment, Old Address

We've officially moved apartments! It's my 5th apartment in the mission field so far...and I've only served in 2 areas. BUT the mailing address for this apartment is a little bit weird, and I don't want to risk any letters or packages getting lost in the mail, so if you have anything to send, just send it to my old address (we still have access to it)

We started teaching Jose Lopez and his family! They're from Guatemala and grew up speaking a Mayan dialect, so Spanish is actually their 2nd language...so it's been pretty fun to try to teach them. Their Spanish is super limited - we'll ask the most simple question like, "Who is God?" and they look at us with very confused looks, then look at their kids (who understand more Spanish), and have them translate it back to them in the dialect so they understand our questions! They're super nice, though, and they actually came to church on Sunday! Jose Lopez said they really liked it!

Fabiola also came to church! She had been making excuses for months to not come, but we finally got her to come and she loved it! She's been having some health problems, but she told us as soon as she walked into the church, she felt fine! It was such a cool miracle from the Lord!

Xochitl and her family were supposed to be confirmed on Sunday, but they got the flu (it's been going around), so they weren't able to come to church. Hopefully next week they'll be confirmed!!!

D&C 89 (the Word of Wisdom)

verse 3 - "Given for a principle with promise"

--the Lord doesn't give us a bunch of rules for no reason - He teaches us important principles, promises us blessings, and then allows us to choose whether or not we'll do what He asks us to do!

--every commandment has a reason for being commanded by God - it's never just because He wants to boss us around and pull puppet strings - He wants to teach us, protect us, and bless us, but it's only possible if we do the things He asks us to do!

I invite you all to pick a commandment/standard that you struggle with/don't quite understand the purpose of and then study/pray about it! I promise that as you seek to understand what the Lord is trying to teach you/how He's trying to protect and bless you, obedience to that commandment/standard will come SO much easier! The Lord loves effort, so show Him that you want to understand!
