Hello everyone!
It's been a
crazy first week of the transfer and I don't have much time to write an
email, but I'll try to include all of the highlights:
We
got to have a lesson with Laura! We re-taught the Restoration to really
make sure she understood the importance of the Book of Mormon and
Joseph Smith and the authority of Priesthood. The Spirit was SO strong
and you could really tell she was feeling it and knew that what we were
saying is true! Hopefully she'll follow our invitation to pray to know
the truth and will receive that confirmation!
We
met Jose Rivera on Facebook and he is SO prepared to learn about the
gospel! He told us he had never really grown up as a member of a church
and he really wants somewhere to belong and to be BAPTIZED!!! We taught
him about Joseph Smith and the First Vision and he was feeling the
Spirit so strongly that he was literally shaking and on the verge of
tears. He has such a strong desire to learn and grow and come closer to
God and we're so excited for him! Hopefully we'll get to put him on-date
for baptism soon!
We
also had a lesson with Zach last night and it was AWESOME! We talked
about the Plan of Salvation and answered some more questions that he had
about the Resurrection from Alma 40-41 so it was a really good lesson!
He told us some amazing spiritual experiences that he's had and it was
SUCH an amazing lesson! We're planning on having a lesson with him again
tonight and we'll bring the English Sisters to do a pass-off lesson :)
Those are the highlights for this week! If there are things I forgot about, I'll put them in next week's email XD
I've
been reading the War Chapters of the Book of Mormon and when I was
younger, I never really liked them, but now, the stories are so
fascinating and still relate to gospel principles!
"[Amalickiah]
desired to speak with [Lehonti]. And it came to pass that when Lehonti
received the message he durst not go down to the foot of the
mount...when Amalickiah found that he could not get Lehonti to come down
off from the mount, [Amalickiah] went up into the mount, nearly to
Lehonti's camp; and he sent again his message unto Lehonti...and it came
to pass that Lehonti came down with his men...and Amalickiah caused
that one of his servants should administer poison by degrees to Lehonti,
that he died." --Alma 47:10-18
Satan
knows that he can't get us to make big sins or mistakes very suddenly;
when temptations like that come, it's easy to resist and say 'no'. A
much more effective way that Satan tends to use is "poisoning by
degrees" - he gets us to come a little ways off the mount, little by
little, and then administers spiritual poison little by little - don't
give Satan that chance! Don't come off of the mount!
Love you all and have a great week!
