Cookies for Estela and Teaching Brisia!

The weeks are going by super quickly now! It's crazy that we'll be getting transfer news this coming Sunday night - I feel like this transfer just started 2 weeks ago! Here are some highlights for the week:

We had a dinner appointment with Flor this week, but she had to cancel last minute because it was her mom's birthday. She gave us some money to go to a restaurant, which was super sweet of her, so we went and got takeout from Thai Spice (my favorite restaurant in Laramie!). I got the Pad Thai, but Hermana Behymer had never been to Thai Spice before, so she got the drunken noodles - when we got home, she took one bite and realized it was WAY spicer than she was expecting! She ran to the fridge, grabbed the milk, and drank some in-between every bite!

On Friday, we made cookies for Estela (a lady that Hermana Becker and I had met a while ago who seemed pretty grumpy) and when we went to go drop them off, she was SO nice and so grateful we came by to give her cookies! She let us come inside while she took the cookies out of the container and put candy back in it to give to us! It was the sweetest thing ever! She asked us to come back and teach her sometime so I guess giving someone cookies really works!

After we visited Estela, I felt like we needed to knock on Brisia's door (even though we hadn't been able to contact her in about 2.5 months) and she actually answered the door! She let us inside, talked for a bit, and then shared 1 Nephi 17 with her (Nephi is commanded to build a boat) and how the Lord helps us do the things He asks us to do, even when it's hard and we don't really know what we're doing!  We invited her to read the rest of the chapter, so hopefully she does and we can start teaching her again!

We got to visit Tammi again! She's still struggling with the aftermath of that abusive relationship, but she said she's getting better. Hopefully, we can have a Book of Mormon study session with her sometime!

I'm reading in 3 Nephi right now, and it's so exciting to be so close to the chapters where Christ comes to the Americas! Right now, though, I'm in the chapters where the Gadianton Robbers have really started to take over the land to the point where both the Nephites and the Lamanites team up against them! Lachoneus, the governor, and Gidgiddoni, the chief captain of the Nephites and a Prophet, are trying to help the Nephites repent and turn to the Lord for help, which works out pretty well!:

"Now the people said unto Gidgiddoni: pray unto the Lord, and let us go up upon the mountains and into the wilderness, that we may fall upon the [Gadianton] Robbers and destroy them in their own lands. But Gidgiddoni saith unto them: the Lord forbid...we will wait till they shall come against us; therefore as the Lord liveth, if we do this He will deliver them into our hands." --3 Nephi 3:20-21

A lot of the time, we have our own plan for our life and how we want things to happen; we want to go and fight and do what we think is best. But, usually the Lord has a different plan in mind, because He really KNOWS what is best! It might not be what we want to happen, or happen in the way we expected, but it's always better than what we, ourselves, planned! We need to trust that the Lord knows what He's doing! I invite all of you to find one way you can trust Him more in your everyday life, especially when things don't happen the way that we originally planned.
