Lessons, German Ladies, and Stagnant Waters

We've been teaching Diego on Facebook for the past few weeks, and on Tuesday, we felt prompted to talk about baptism! He had some questions as to why he needed to be baptized again, but we were running out of time, so we invited him to read some scriptures until we could call again on Friday! When Friday came around, he told us that he really liked the scriptures that we had given him to read, and that he could see baptism in his future at some point! We were super excited! We invited him to come to church, and he said he would!

We also met a member named Hildegard this week! She's 84 years old and lives alone, so we stopped by to go an meet her! She opened up the door, and before we could get a word in, we were sitting down at her dining room table, each of us with 3 huge slices of pound cake and a glass of apple juice, and her sitting at the end of the table, telling us her whole life story. She's from Germany and has a very interesting German accent, but has been in the U.S. for 62 years, so her English is super good! I got to dust off some old German skills...they're pretty much non-existent now, but it was really fun to try speaking German again. Before we knew it, we needed to leave, but it was such a good visit! We love Hildegard!

Fabiola is doing really well! On Monday, we visited her to re-teach the Restoration, and she was just SO happy! We could see the Spirit is just so strong with her and how much it's blessing her!

We also had Stake Conference this weekend, and it was super good! We sent the link out to everyone we were teaching, but apparently the zoom link was really difficult to figure out...because nobody we were teaching watched it... Diego told us he tried and tried to figure it out, but it just wasn't working. Hopefully next week, it'll be normal and people will come to church again!

Personal Study Excerpt for the week:

D&C 121:33 - "How long can rolling waters remain impure? What power shall stay the heavens?"

--stagnant water is impure and unsafe to drink - sometimes, we're like stagnant water - comfortable and simply existing, but the Lord wants us to be so much more! He puts us through streams and unsettled paths that make us uncomfortable, but the Lord knows that He is purifying us!

--this actually gave me some song inspiration, so I've been thinking about writing a song about this!

I invite each of you to look at your life's streams (difficult times) in a different light this week - don't see them as unfair situations that are pulling you away from your comfortable, stagnant pond - see them as growing opportunities to trust the Lord and allow Him to purify us! Soon, we'll look back at our stagnant ponds and realize how much more joy we have now, and how we don't want to return to that stagnant state!
